Russian Communist Party condemns sentences against prisoners of Gdeim Izik Group

Submitted on

Moscow (Russia), August 7, 2017 (SPS) - The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party has condemned the sentences against the Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik Group, considering that they were contrary to international law and legitimacy.
The party affirmed in a statement issued by the party's central committee that "a Moroccan civil court does not have the right to try Sahrawi citizens, not to mention a military court, knowing that at present, many countries in the world recognize the sovereignty of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic."
The statement appealed to the international community to accelerate enabling the Saharawi people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and independence, calling for the immediate release of all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons, especially the Gdeim Izik group.
