Ljubljana (Slovenia), June 07, 2017 (SPS) - The Saharwi Coordinator with MINURSO, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Emhamed Khaddad, held meetings with the leaders of several Slovenian political parties such as the ruling party group – the Middle Party, the Pensioners Party, the Socialist Party and the United Left Party.

Mohamed Khaddad has briefed the Slovenian officials on the latest developments in the Saharawi issue on political, legal and human rights issues, focusing on The recent Security Council resolution, which called on the POLISARIO and Morocco to engage in direct negotiations Without preconditions for a just and lasting solution that guarantees the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.

Saharwi diplomat also point out  the decision of the European Court of Justice issued on 21 December 2016, which explained that Western Sahara "is not part of the Kingdom of Morocco and therefore Morocco is not legally entitled to sign agreements with a third party on the wealth of this region, which has not yet completed the decolonization process.

The Sahara coordinator with Minorso said that the Slovenian government is committed to respecting this decision and defending it in the European forums. Stressing that any agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco includes the Saharwi territory is contrary to the law according to international resolutions and contradicts the judgment of the European Court.

It should be noted that he attended the meetings together with the Saharawi coordinator with MINURSO Mr. Maulainain Baghdadi, representative of the Frente POLISARIO in Slovenia. SPS
