Polisario Front condemns Moroccan obstacles to UN Committee on Decolonization

Submitted on

Kingston (San Vincent and the Grenadines) May 22, 2017 (SPS) - The Polisario Front condemned the Moroccan obstacles during the UN Special Committee on Decolonization held from 16 to 19 May, in Kingston, the capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The representative of the Polisario Front in the United Nations, Bukhari Ahmed, indicated Saturday in a press statement that the Polisario Front, as the legitimate representative of the Saharawi people, had been invited by the United Nations to participate in the Conference. The delegation played an active role in all discussions, contacts and meetings with the participating delegations.
He affirmed that the just cause of the Saharawi people has achieved another victory through the United Nations' rejection of the Moroccan maneuvers and attempts aimed at misleading international public opinion, as well as its affirmation of the Saharawi people's right to self-determination and independence under the leadership of its legitimate and sole representative, the Polisario Front.
The Sahrawi diplomat pointed out that Morocco's failed attempts came after the UN Security Council passed a resolution last April calling for the resumption of direct negotiations under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to reach a just and lasting solution that guarantees the Saharawi people's right to self-determination.
