Shaheed El Hafed, 23 Apr 2017 (SPS) "The restoration of relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and Cuba is further evidence of the failure of the monarchy's boycott policy with all countries that have recognized the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic" Said Saturday, the Minister Delegate to the FM in charge of Latin America and the Caribbean, Omar Mansur.
"The new strategy of Morocco to open embassies alongside those of the Saharawi Republic in the African Union, Algeria, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Angola, Mexico, Panama and many other countries and now Cuba is a sign of strength and consolidation of recognition of the Saharawi state internationally, "said the Saharawi diplomat.
"This re-establishment of relations with Cuba reflects the failure of the policy of blackmail and extortion carried out by this colonialist country against more than 80 countries which maintains diplomatic relations with the SADR," he said.
"Today, after 30 years, Morocco resumes relations with Cuba without any conditions and is preparing to open its embassy in Havana alongside the Saharawi embassy in the capital of the heroic Cuban people whose positions of support and cooperation with the just cause of the Saharawi people remains firm and its right to sovereignty and independence, especially in the fields of education and public health," he added.
"We express our appreciation to the African Union and all these countries for their defense of the right of peoples to self-determination, independence and decolonization, and their commitment and faithfulness to the guiding principles of their foreign policies," said Mr. Mansur.
He expressed his hope that "Morocco will renounce the expansionist policy and comply with international law by accepting the implementation of UN and AU resolutions calling for the decolonization of Western Sahara, through a referendum of self-determination for the Saharawi people and allow access for international organizations, put an end to human rights violations and the plundering of the natural resources, especially as the United Nations Security Council prepares to examine the situation in Western Sahara and to adopt a new resolution on the relaunch of the negotiating process ".
