Paris , Apr 19, 2017 (SPS) -– About thirty Sahrawis and French activists supporting the Sahrawi cause participated in a rally at Les Invalides in Paris on Tuesday afternoon to demand the immediate and unconditioned release of the Sahrawi political prisoners held in Morocco.
The rally, staged 100m from the headquarters of the French ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been initiated by the Association of Sahrawi Community in France (ACSF), the Association of Sahrawis in France (ASF), the League of Sahrawi Students in France and the Platform for Solidarity with the People of Western Sahara.
The protesters chanted "One Solution, Stop Occupation" and "Morocco Killer, France Accomplice" and claimed the immediate and unconditioned release of Sahrawi political prisoners and halt to suppression in the occupied Sahrawi territories.
They also called for the urgent holding of a referendum on self-determination, to allow the Sahrawi people decide freely their future, and the extension of the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to human rights monitoring in the occupied Sahrawi territories, as well as the enforcement of the ruling of the European Union Court of Justice of 21 December 2016.
