Chahid El Hafed (Sahrawi refugee camps) December 27, 2016 (SPS) - A delegation of the African Union Commission arrived in the Sahrawi refugee camps, as part of the three-day working visit to the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
The delegation, led by the adviser to the AU Commission's chairperson, Lazarus Kapambwe, was received in ChahId El-Hafed by Sahrawi Deputy Minister for African Affairs Hamdi Mayara in presence of members of the Sahrawi National Council (Parliament)
Lazarus said that the "visit is part of the discussions with the SADR on the obstacles to the implementation of its agreements with the AU and ways and means to overcome them."
"It was also an opportunity to draw on the experience of the Sahrawi State in the field of management," he added.
For his part, Hamdi Mayara said that the meeting allowed the two sides to discuss "the preparation for the next AU Summit, scheduled for January 2017, and to address Morocco's demand to join the AU, which will depend on Morocco's readiness to abide by the AU Charter."
The delegation will be received by Sahrawi Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, before heading for the city of Bojador.SPS
