Submitted on

Stockholm, June 3, 2016 (SPS) – The Olof Palme International Center has expressed its deepest condolences on the passing away of the late President of the Republic and Secretary General, Mohamed Abdelaziz, in a letter to the Sahrawi government and Polisario Front.
Following is the full text of the letter:
“It is with great sadness that we receive the news of President Mohamed Abdelaziz’s passing. A person so closely tied to the struggle for a free Western Sahara. For many of us at the Olof Palme International Center he was also a friend who always welcomed us and who, with warmth and patience, strived to explain the way he fought for those he represented. Mohamed Abdelaziz sought a peaceful solution to the conflict with Morocco and to honour him is for us to continue our struggle towards a peaceful solution and a free Western Sahara.
On behalf of the entire Olof Palme International Center, Please accept our deepest condolences,
Jens Orback
Secretary General
Olof Palme International Center” (SPS)
