Celebration of Workers Day: Under slogan of solidarity with Saharawi people

Algiers, April 04, 2016 (SPS) The celebration of workers day in Algeria on May 1, will be organized this year under the slogan of solidarity with the Saharawi people, said Sunday in Algiers the General Secretary of the Union General of Algerian workers (UGTA), Abdelmajid Sidi Said.
"One word and one slogan marks the celebration of the workers day this year solidarity in with the Saharawi people fighting for its freedom and independence," said Sidi Said at a meeting of the leadership of the UGTA , devoted to the preparation of this event, attended by the Secretary General of the General Union of Saharawi workers Mohamed Cheikh Lahbib, and the Saharawi Ambassador in Algeria, Hamoudi Bucharaya Sidina.
Mr. Sidi Said noted that this solidarity with the Saharawi people, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika "expressed with conviction and depth, secular and revolutionary commitment of Algeria to the just causes in the world, "adding that solidarity action for the same cause will take place in 48 provinces of the country as well as at the level of enterprises.
Mr. Sidi Saïd noted on this occasion, that "African trade union organizations, Arab and European have confirmed their participation in this action that took on an international dimension".
He confirmed that the official celebration of the workers day will be held this year in the wilaya of Oran, adding that a caravan carrying foodstuffs and medicines will go to refugee camps to provide aid and assistance to the Saharawi population.
He also declared that a letter highlighting the legitimacy of the right of the self-determination of the Sahrawi people will be addressed by the UGTA in OATUU (African Trade Union Unity Organization), before April 10, 2016, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, who report to the Security Council on the situation in Western Sahara.
