UN resolution 1514: Algeria insists on Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination

Algiers, 15 December 2020 (SPS) - Algeria reaffirmed Monday its solidarity with the right of the Sahrawi people and all peoples of non-self-governing territories to self-determination, on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the resolution 1514 of the United Nations General Assembly on the granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

International Socialist League renews support for Sahrawi people’s struggle for self-determination

Shaheed El Hafed, 14 December 2020 (SPS) - The preparatory conference for the International Socialist League Congress reaffirmed its support for the Sahrawi people struggle to self-determination.
In the end of the preparatory conference for the Congress held on Saturday, the participants adopted a statement in which they affirmed their support for the Saharawi people struggle for self-determination and vigorously denounced "Morocco's new military aggression against the SADR, in the region of EL Guerguarat," added the same source.

Morocco cannot count on U.S. support beyond January 20

New York, , 14 December 2020 (SPS) - Morocco cannot count on U.S. diplomatic support for its expansionist plans in Western Sahara beyond January 20, when U.S. President-elect Joe Biden takes office, according to the Bloomberg agency, which says that the United States loses much more than it gains from Trump's decision.
"If it is politically awkward for President-elect Joe Biden to immediately reverse Trump's decision, he will certainly not accept it enthusiastically," according to an article published by the Bloomberg agency.

Sahrawi army continues attacks on Moroccan bases for 31st consecutive day

Bir Lehlou (Liberated Territories), 13 December 2020 (SPS)  - The Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) continued its intensive attacks on Moroccan military bases behind the wall of shame on Saturday and Sunday, said a military statement number 31 from the Ministry of Defence.
In its statement, the ministry "the units of the SPLA continued on Saturday, their strikes against the enemy positions in the region of Tinuachad (sector of Mahbes), the zone of Rous Aoudiat Ahdaydeh (sector of Farsiya)."

Algiers, 13 December 2020 (SPS) - The international reactions continued on Friday denouncing the announcement of the outgoing American President Donald Trump of his recognition of alleged sovereignty of Morocco over Western Sahara, considering it a blatant violation of the right of the Sahrawi people and the international legality.
Through the voice of its Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia said that Trump’s unilateral decision falls completely outside of the scope of the international law.

Shaheed Al Hafed, 12 December 2020 (SPS) - The Palestinian Political Affairs Specialist, Dr. Chaker Chabat Abu Imad, indicated that normalizing ties between Israelí and Morocco in return for Trump’s recognition of Morocco’s alleged sovereignty over Western Sahara “is contrary to the international law”, adding that this proclamation “stirs the Saharawi people’s feelings.”
Speaking to SPS, the Palestinian academic called on the Saharawi people to show more determination to confront the Moroccan occupation.
