New York (United Nations), Sept 26, 2019 (SPS) - UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres submitted a report to the General Assembly on the rights of peoples to self-determination, in which he informed the deliberative body of the UN organization of the progress of the Western Sahara issue.

Labour Party Conference gives unanimous support for Western Sahara

London, September 25, 2019 (SPS) –Thousands of Labour Party members erupted into spontaneous applause and cheering for an independent Western Sahara at Labour Party Conference today.
Addressing the Conference, Jdeiya Mohammed Salem spoke of the brutal Moroccan occupation of her country Western Sahara.  She also demanded the UK government use its role on the UN Security Council to set a date for a referendum on the independence of the territory, which is also Africa's last colony.

Stockholm (Sweden) 25 September 2019 (SPS)- Saharawi human rights defender, Mrs. Aminatou Haidar, was announced as one of four winners of the prestigious Right Livelihood Award, also known as the “Alternative Nobel Prize”, during a press conference organised by the Award’s organisers at the international Press Centre at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Conference to raise awareness on Saharawi cause at Extremadura University

Catalan Liberpress Association awards its annual prize to Saharawi people struggle

Girona (Catalonia) September 21, 2019 (SPS) – The Catalan Liberepress Association awarded its annual prize to the just struggle of the Sahrawi people for freedom and independence, among the nine honorees this year in the fields of human rights, environment, media, music, art and society.
In the presence of a large audience, the representative of the Front in Spain, Kheira Bulahi, received the prize, who highlighted that the prize was a reward to the just struggle of the Sahrawi people.

NLC, TUC, others to picket Nigerian firms dealing in ‘stolen’ resources from Western Sahara

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and about 17 civil Society organizations have said they will picket Nigerian companies buying stolen phosphate, fertilizer and fishes from Morocco, claiming that the resources are stolen from the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) otherwise known as Western Sahara.

Western Sahara: Moroccan mines cause new victims

Tifariti (Liberated Sahrawi Territories); Sept 18; 2019 (SPS) - A Mauritanian citizen was injured Monday following the explosion of a Moroccan fragmentation bomb in an area close to the Moroccan wall, at about 90km from the Sahrawi region of Tifariti.
According to the Sahrawi Office of Mine Action Coordination SMACO, it is a Mauritanian citizen called Ali Yaslem, born in 1989, injured in the explosion of a Moroccan fragmentation bomb.

Sahrawi Republic takes parts at African Forum on Migration

Cairo, Egypt, Sept 17, 2019 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic took part in the work of the African Forum on Migration in the Egyptian capital Cairo from 14-16 September.
The African Forum, held this year under the slogan "Strengthening data and research on migration for the development and implementation of evidence-based policies for effective migration management in Africa", was attended by the Minister of the Interior, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Mustafa Mohamed Ali Sidi El Bachir.

Saharawi civilian prisoners of the Gdeim Izik Group start an alarming hunger strike

El Aaiún (occupied capital of Western Sahara), Sept 17, 2019 (SPS) -The Saharawi political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik Group have announced Monday that they will begin a simultaneous hunger strike in several Moroccan prisons in protest of their continued arbitrary detention.
The League for the protection of Sahrawi prisoners received a statement made by the civilian prisoners of the Gdeim Izik Group after having initiated a 48-hour hunger strike on the occasion of the second anniversary of their arbitrary deportation after receiving harsh sentences.

President of Republic attends funeral of African leader Robert Mugabe

Harare (Zimbabwe) September 14, 2019 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, attended Saturday the funeral ceremony of the former President of Zimbabwe and African leader Robert Mugabe.
The funeral took place at the National Sports Stadium in the capital, Harare, in the presence of heads of state and foreign delegations from Africa and the world.
